Cinema is Dope

I would like to thank everyone that comes to Cinema is Dope and supports it. October was a landmark month for the site in passing 300 posts and in doubling the traffic in one months time. I really just do the site for fun. So many online film sites are geared towards generating traffic and ad revenue only. I don’t care about either. I’m here to share my love of films and post quality restored movie images as wallpaper. Along the way I also like sharing some festival stories of note and photography. This is site is just a very small personal project of mine that I’m really happy to see others out there reading and enjoying. I don’t do too much to market the site so I’m really confused at how so many have found it.

I’m still working on finding the right balance and mix (movie wallpaper, festival notes, etc.,) in daily content. It seems offering a wider variety of daily movie wallpaper works the best and with some daily festival notes. So in the coming weeks expect a much great diversity of movie wallpaper on a daily basis and more festival notes (stories and photography and more).

Couldn’t Make the Nikkatsu Action Retrospective @ Fantastic Fest 2007? No Problemo with TexasGeek.tv on the scene. I certainly wouldn’t have thought the first movie image I post here for Jamie Foxx would be from “Bait.” So first image of Mr. Foxx here and I think it’s a very fun one! I can’t help but think I’ve caught everyone off by posting an image from this movie. I do find it fun to mix up the content from time to time.

I’ve never seen this Antoine Fuqua directed movie so someone out there will have to let me know if it’s worth checking out!

Carla Gravina and Alain Delon in a classic image from one of my all time favorite films Tony Arzenta.

My favorite non-Melville gangster performance by Alain Delon is as Tony Arzenta in this film. One of the sadly lost in the cracks gems of crime cinema. The only video release it has at the moment is on Japanese DVD. I originally saw this film twice at I believe it was the 5th Tarantino Film Festival. Tarantino had a really nice print of the film.

Belén Rueda turns in one of the most emotionally charged and haunting performaces in 2007 as Laura in The Orphanage. Having seen the actress in real life I can say I’m extremely impressed at how Bayona crafted her as the character. Here in this picture she plays the game (I’ll leave it at that as I don’t want to spoil anything since the movie won’t open in the US until December) that gave me the chills big time!
