Public Enemy Number One is way high up on the films I’m dying to see. Part 2 hits cinemas in mid-November overseas. By all accounts this film looks to feature an incredible powerhouse Vincent Cassel. I miss the over the top crime films that had teeth. So many crime films these days feel like they get mired down in emotional landscapes as if they were a music video for some nameless emo band. Give me The Outfit, Red Circle, Milano calibro 9 or something along those lines anyday… hopefully this new Public Enemy series gets back those teeth.

Harold Lloyd in the famous clock scene from Safety Last! Such an indelible image of cinema rapture and creativity certainly deserves movie wallpaper treatment, enjoy.

For fall 2008, I will be pumping out more and more images from Alfred Hitchcock films. Up first we have this amazing behind the scenes picture of a very focused Alfred Hitchcock directing a scene between Edmund Gwenn and Mildred Natwick. Seems fascinating to see the camera used and lighting setup for a Hitchcock film and in general any behind the scenes still I find from his set I find very evocative for showcasing how he did something, often times with a great deal of cinema cleverness and ingenuity.
This still was a project over the period of several months of restoration and I’m glad to now be able to present it closer to its original state.

The King of Kung Fu is one of the Bruce Lee knock-off films. It stars Bruce Lee clone Bruce Le, Steve James and Bolo Yeung. The artwork for this film as shown above is nothing short of stellar and grindhouse-tastic! Very excited to finally get this one up here at CID.

This is one of the few Chang Cheh films I haven’t seen and this image is an absolutely classic one with the two legends in Ti Lung and David Chiang in it. I must watch this film soon!!!
