Japanese Dirty Harry, the name says it all! I was also a fan of "Kikujiro" I thought it was a really cute story, that showed Kitano has plenty of range as a filmmaker. As for my favorite Kitano film, I'd probably go with Hana-bi if I was forced to choose (I love all of his films). I see it as his magnum opus of sorts, a perfect summation of his works. It also contains perhaps one of the most affecting closing scenes in cinema history for me. Hauntingly poetic. Hopefully you can dig up some more gems!
