You have to admire whomever put this rather brief and rare official comic book for the 1974 cult hit Black Belt Jones together. Glad to finally have it back online for fans of the film to be able to enjoy.

It’s no secret I love monkey kung fu in movies and better when their is a kung fu training sequence like the above in the mix and it’s even better when they oppose the snake fist style! Well, Snake in the Monkey’s Shadow has all three and as far as I’m concerned is the king of monkey kung fu cinema.

Jean-Claude Van Damme along with Martyrs was the talk of Cannes earlier this year. For those that miss its North American premiere at Midnight Madness (film listing), you can catch it at Fantastic Fest (film listing).

I’ve only come across Van Damme once in my life and that was last year when they had him kick off the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) by having him introduce of all things, Danny Boyle’s sci-fi thriller, Sunshine. To say he is a celebrity there would be an understatement as he was mobbed every step he took. If he was to go to the bathroom, then he would have hundreds of people following him like a bee on honey.

So the first image here should give you a great sense of the bone-crunching and gravity defying action going on in Chocolate. It’s very much highly recommended and am absolute must see at Fantastic Fest 2008 this year! You can see this film before Fantastic Fest during the closing night film for the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness.
