Mads Mikkelsen as a viking in a film from Nicolas Winding Refn? Yes please. Easily one of most anticipated films to see this year! Put this one on your radar.

For those in the US your best chances will be at film festivals to see it. If I catch any of its announced festival screenings I’ll be sure to post them here. I haven’t seen anyone pick up its North American rights yet so film festivals will be the only way to catch it until its eventual Danish or UK DVD release in 2010.

Synopsis:
1000 AD. For years, One Eye, a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the Norse chieftain Barde. Aided by Are, a boy slave, One Eye slays his captor and together he and Are escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness.

On their flight, One Eye and Are board a Viking vessel but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that clears only as the crew sights an unknown land. As the new world reveals its secrets and the Vikings confront their terrible and bloody fate, One Eye discovers his true self.

Chalk down the set decoration, costuming and lighting here and throughout this film as some of the best in cinema history. Absolutely inspired!

Caption:

In the background are (left) a picture phone where space travelers can dial a number and see and talk with people on Earth. At the right is the Earthlight room, a restaurant whose windows provide spectacular views of the planet Earth 200 miles away.

MGM presents a Stanley Kubrick production, “2001: A Space Odyssey” starring Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood. The epic drama of adventure and exploration, in Cinerama, was produced and directed by Kubrick from a screenplay by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke and was filmed in Super Panavision and Metrocolor.

Vintage Movie Wallpaper of the Day

One of my all-time favorite movies and one of my all-time favorite Bond films! One of those rare films I’ve completely lost track on how many times I’ve seen it. Can’t wait to hopefully see it soon on Blu-Ray! Carole Bouquet might be the best and most stunning Bond girl ever as Melina Havelock. Though note in the Japanese poster artwork here, her eyes are unfortunately a bit uneven and disproportionate… oh well, still a very engaging, exciting and well done poster despite retreading the same exact James Bond head shot illustration used in other posters (I’ve seen it used in at least two others). Which isn’t really a knock as maybe the same artist felt they had nailed it perfectly and felt no need to try and change it any.
