I have really lost track on the number of times I’ve watched the fabulous opening restaurant scene in Playtime. This sequence has such a simple conceit that is so over worked and completely over complex, yet works in grand gut busting fashion. If you ever need to look up funniest moments or scenes in cinema this one stands up with the very best of them. Such a perfect scene from start to finish that never misses a beat and only gets better with each subsequent viewing.

Jacques Tati (pictured above) overall in this outing for Monsieur Hulot crafts a great comedy that uses the juxtaposition of man and technology in the 20th century and how this relationship breeds advances and simultaneously man not having a clue what to do with any of its modernization, yet life goes on.
