VIVA XMAS 2008 EVERYONE!!!

I guess we will never know who directed what in this historical epic that doesn’t play it PC. What we do know is that Wallace Beery turns in one larger than life Kong size performance as Pancho Villa in it!

I feel incredibly lucky getting to see this projected on the big screen recently at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar during BNAT X in 35mm. Not everyday this film on that kind of amazing print gets screened anywhere in the world!

Senator Entertainment is apparently releasing the Public Enemy series theatrically in the US sometime in 2009. I haven’t heard any exact dates but suspecting or hoping that either SXSW or AFI Dallas picks it up. I’m starting to wonder how long I’ll have to wait to see it…

New Cinema Wallpaper of the Day

The first part of this Che epic is challenging, stirred very pragmatically and crackling with underlying tension. We know loosely where we are going but not sure how the movie will necessarily get us there in its highly realistic driven prose that blurs the film as if it were a breathing document of real past events in the life of Che and Cuba. Benicio Del Toro of course puts in the performance of his career to date as Che.
