Markedly one of the biggest cult movies ever, Repo Man fans endure to this day with new ones emerging. Will there be a sequel to join it on the silver screen or a David Lynch female lead remake… who knows?

I’m not sure if this is the original illustration or reworking of it for poster artwork for this movie, either way I think it’s by far the best poster for it out there!

Japanese Poster Appreciation Month – January 2009

It’s high flying car action in this wink wink fun Japanese poster for Smokey and the Bandit. I still remember, although however briefly, a period in the late 70’s/early 80’s when driving a Trans-Am was the dopest thing one could do. Not sure where this craze all started exactly, but it sure was further fueled by this film. I can see people leaving this movie wishing they could just hop in a Trans-Am and gun it home. I remember seeing Smokey and the Bandit a couple of times at the drive in back in the late 70’s and the audiences completely eating up the interaction between Reynolds and Gleason, especially their off the color dialogue, which was a plenty, but to a certain degree lost on me as I was too young to completely be able to digest everything they were saying it its entirety.

About Japanese Poster Artwork Celebration Month:
To kick off 2009, I can think of no better way of doing so than celebrating Japanese poster artwork. The emphasis will be more of western films through the lens of Japanese poster artwork and of course some of my own personal all-time favorites. At a future date I’ll probably have a month devoted to solely Japanese films and their poster artwork. This is a movie that still hasn’t gotten the cult following it deserves! Filmmaker Nobuhiro Yamashita crafts one hell of a nice minimal masterpiece of coming of age awkwardness, friendship and love letter to music (more specifically the band Blue Hearts). For fans of movies that feature aspiring musicians, celebration of music and coming of age nostalgia, this is a must own movie! So what are you waiting for go rent/buy this movie now!
