I still feel that Adam Sandler’s best perfomance was as Barry Egan in Punch-Drunk Love with his perfomance as George in Funny People coming in second. He realizes George as a human character in a real world while still throwing in his trademark approach to humor, singing, voices and irony. The human depths he brings to the table and explores gives his performance a built in edge as it then makes it more immersive for the audience to laugh and feel sad alongside him.

The dynamic between Seth Rogen and Aubrey Plaza in Funny People is great and one of the highlights of the film. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the 3rd act but I do wish the film had more scenes and shown interplay between Ira and Daisy. Overall this is one of the warmest and most entertaining films I’ve seen this year and in many respects Judd Apatow finest hours in celluloid. Definitely a film to run out and see immediately.
