Pierre Segogne turns in this wonderful and evocative poster art for the 1946 Alfred Hitchcock noirish classic, Notorious. They MacGuffin of the key is also really well integrated into this artwork at the top with the interesting split coloring duality of Cary Grant’s character.

Tyrone Power turns in one of the most memorable film noir performances of all time in Nightmare Alley. This is one of those bottled wine types of film, where the longer you think about it and the more times you see it, the more your appreciation for it grows. You could actually dismiss this film the first time, but somehow it just draws you slowly back in and you eventually devours you with its movie magic.

Could Zeena the Fortune Teller (Joan Blondell) be predicting the demise of Stanton (Tyrone Power) with her tarot card reading?

The classic film noir, “Nightmare Alley” is one of my favorites and The Masters of Cinema DVD release seems to be its best on home video (more info here). Can’t wait to pick it up. I’ve had it on my list to get all year but seems to keep slipping me by. If anyone out there has this release please let me know how it is.
