Seems slightly surreal that in his dip to 80’s music nostaligia on his new album that Kanye West would also team up with Herbie Hancock to pay reference to RoboCop (complete with appropriate sound effects from the film). A major pop/hip hop song referencing RoboCop??? Now that is supremely cool! Definitely check it out.

Chalk down the set decoration, costuming and lighting here and throughout this film as some of the best in cinema history. Absolutely inspired!

Caption:
200 miles above the Earth’s Equator, pilots and a stewardess from a commercial spaceliner relax in the lounge area of Space Station Five. In the background are (left) a picture phone where space travelers can dial a number and see and talk with people on Earth. At the right is the Earthlight room, a restaurant whose windows provide spectacular views of the planet Earth 200 miles away.

MGM presents a Stanley Kubrick production, “2001: A Space Odyssey” starring Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood. The epic drama of adventure and exploration, in Cinerama, was produced and directed by Kubrick from a screenplay by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke and was filmed in Super Panavision and Metrocolor.

New Cinema Wallpaper of the Day

Along with Astropia, ROBOROCK marks one of my favorite indie film efforts I’ve seen in 2008. ROBOROCK is by far one of the most wildly entertaining films I’ve seen this year and in recent memory (and I do watch a lot of films each year!!!!!). The 2nd act is overcooked but the opening and closing act are stellar. If you like dark comedies, sci-fi, robots or all out insane comedies and/or all the above… seek this one out asap. The Japanese poster artwork here certainly captures the spirit of this film perfectly.

It’s the 10 year anniversary for Dark City this year. Hard to believe it has already been that long. For fans of Rufus Sewell I definitely recommend checking him out in one of my favorite films this year, Vinyan.

Based on the trailer (view here), this Vin Diesel and Michelle Yeoh sci-fi action film appears to be at the least a fun hyper thrill ride where everything that could go wrong in making it… did. Melanie Thierry who I thought was great as Manon in Chrysalis also stars. US release date is August 29th.
