Almodovar in this outing, one of my favorites of his, seems so alive in each frame. Cinema dances, leaps and cavorts in its sunshine and darkness without missing a beat. This particular scene with Penelope Cruz is a real standout scene that when I saw it for the first time, didn’t see it coming and it fit so perfectly into the flow of the film.

This is a highly creepy image of Belén Rueda in The Orphanage (El Orfanato). Hard to believe it has nearly been a year since this film first hit the film festival circuit. In that span it seems to have garnered a strong word of mouth and enthusiastic following.
