I can’t believe I haven’t already posted this badass image before? Not sure how that happened. So here at last I present it. Can’t wait to see Sho Kosugi in Ninja Assassin next year! I remember back in the 80’s although not a soul I knew was into them going through a phase of watching all these English language Ninja movies that seemed to be coming out in rapid session each week. Amazed to find out so many years later that so many film fans went through the exact same phase. Although reviewing some of them now with adult eyes certainly puts them in a new light much like watching the long cut of The Goonies, they still entertain and delight, although with more laughs for sure.

The last time we really saw James McTeigue he brought us the very dark and well realized, V for Vendetta. In his latest outing he returns with a stylized ninja film, that brings back cult 80’s film ninja icon Sho Kosugi.
 
Rain certainly keeps gaining traction to become an international star. Seems like only yesterday he was acting quirky in I’m a Cyborg. Now why you may have found him fun in the latest Speed Racer, his best bit in 2008 by far has been his dance off with Stephen Colbert (view here).
 

Synopsis:
 
Raizo (Rain) is one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them…and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge. In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Defying the orders of her superior, Ryan Maslow (Ben Miles), Mika digs into top secret agency files to learn the truth behind the murders. Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers, led by the lethal Takeshi (Rick Yune), to silence her forever. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, but he knows that the Clan will not rest until they are both eliminated. Now, entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse through the streets of Europe, Raizo and Mika must trust one another if they hope to survive…and finally bring down the elusive Ozunu Clan.
