The next Harry Potter as we will know by now has been moved back to next year and I certainly think it will be the one film in the series to convert many new fans. The last two books of Rowling’s series certainly raise the bar, transcendence and spectacle for everything that came before it in very sweeping fashion. Half-Blood Prince is simply one of the best stories I’ve ever read and I can’t wait to see it realized on the big screen.

In the J.K.Rowling Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the last novel are by far my favorites. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in particular is one of the best pieces of fantasy fiction ever written. It’s hard to believe they will be able to condense it down into one film, but I’m definitely hoping for the best. For those that have been on the fence or indifferent so far with it, I definitely think from this film (if translated well to the screen) on you will be converted into a fan!

This weekend sure looks like a great time to go camping… if you want to stay spoiler free!

If your a fan of Harry Potter now is the time to:
* Turn off your cel phone.
* Dislodge yourself from instant messaging programs.
* Avoid TV/Cable/Online news and/or film sites.
* Avoid any e-mail with anything Harry Potter related in the subject.
* Go to a deserted island that doesn’t have wi-fi.
The chances of the HUGE spoilers inside the final book of the Harry Potter series “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” being revealed to the world before anyone has had a chance to actually ready it are a 99% guarantee I think. In the days ahead I’m not going to be surprised to see in big bold letters on any number of news sites a title with “(insert characters name) dies in last Potter” or “(insert huge spoiler) is revealed.” Not being spoiled is going to take some very careful surfing, TV watching and answering of all personal communication. TV news stations might even carry spoilers on their news crawl at the bottom or very matter of fact tell the spoiler without giving anyone the chance to flip the channel.
With the way news is covered in broadcast, print and online there is little chance for anything to be a secret anymore. Information crazed media we have now across the board really is just awful at keeping spoilers as spoilers and secrets as secrets. What should be spoilers and/or secrets instead get written down into a handful of words as a lead in that is blared out more brightly than a hyper Las Vegas neon sign. It would be so nice if across the media world we could all set up a new standard for keeping spoilers and secrets as such. Though since everything is so much more “instant” and everyone trying to rush to be first I realize there is many inherent problems. Everyone wants the scoop. Everyone wants to be first. They know if they don’t post it, someone else will.
So really the only way to stay spoiler free and especially not updated on a minute by minute basis with what is going on in Paris Hilton or L-Lo’s life is to tune out. Run to the wilderness like the Wilderness Family or Grizzly Adams.
My solution at staying 100% spoiler free for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows“… at midnight buy the book and then take a nice camping trip this weekend where you leave your cel and laptop behind. In the meantime starting now, you better be careful what web site you click on or what news program you watch or listen to. I’m just cringing at the thought that deep down I know someone or some media outlet is going to catch me off guard and proclaim before I have a chance to tune out… “Harry Potter lives” “Mack Truck Turner Saves Potter and Stamps Down the Dark Lord” or “Harry Potter dies!” I don’t want to know and if you spoil it for me, chances are me and others will not visit or tune into you for a damn long time you dang MUGGLE! ;)
