During the time it took me to post this, there were 8,000,026 birthday cakes flushed around the world down hotel toilets.
I don’t know what your favorite poster artwork is for the great film Hot Fuzz… my favorite by far is this exciting and fleshed out with several small cool detailed touches Japanese poster artwork. Is this not some terrifically inspired and well done poster artwork? I love it!!!

Vintage Movie Wallpaper of the Day
Friday, November 14, 2008
And so begins several days of vintage images from this film. Up first is this absolutely rare and classic publicity image from Welcome Home, Soldier Boys (1972). Give yourself 2 billion cinephile points if you can name all actors and the name of the lone actress in this still.
Welcome Home, Soldier Boys was directed by Richard Compton, who might be better known for having directed Macon County Line and Return to Macon County. The screenplay was from none other than Guerdon Trueblood who is perhaps best known for directing The Candy Snatchers. It has a fantastic cast and of the films that dealt with Vietnam and that came from the 70’s remains to this day one of the more underrated and under seen true gems. I wouldn’t at all call it necessarily like or similar to Rolling Thunder, but if you liked that film, then there is a real good chance you will also love Welcome Home, Soldier Boys!

I really hope that if nothing else this new Bond film goes back to the classic action opening set pieces that served as great adrenaline kicks despite often implausibility.

George Hilton is one of the all-time great actors and rarely will you find of him a cooler image than this one from The Brute and the Beast (Tempo di massacro). This spaghetti western was directed by Lucio Fulci from a Fernando Di Leo script.

New Cinema Wallpaper of the Day

Another action packed image from the latest Bond film which led me for some reason to wonder what my favorite Bond film of all-time was… I certainly need a Bond marathon to review so many titles I saw in my youth but have yet to see and experience with my adult eyes. Funny how pictures we see when we are young can turn out not to be quite what we remembered upon review. For Your Eyes Only certainly stands out among my favorites although I’m not sure if I’d call it my top favorite.
