Maurizio Merli is a reckless cop with an itch for daredevil high speed pursuits of bad guys in Stelvio Massi’s car chase crime epic, Highway Racer . With most of its action taking place on the road with car chase after car chase, the stakes and mayhem come at a furious clip that climaxes into some of the better car stunts seen in 70’s cinema as a whole. How this gem has alluded DVD release is beyond me. The snappy and often humorous dialogue alone in the film make it worth checking out.

Flip Wilson portrays both the co-owner of a roller rink and the wife of the co-owner of a roller rink in “SKATETOWN, U.S.A.,” a roller disco extravaganza from Rastar for Columbia Pictures release.
At the recent
Alamo Drafthouse Weird Wednesday screening for this film the line at the Ritz was down the block an hour before it even started! Who knew roller boogie could bring out the Austin crowds like this film did! The film itself was an absolute blast and what really is surprising about it is the sensational roller boogie choreography done by both
Patrick Swayze as Ace Johnson and
Greg Bradford as Stan. Mr. Swayze in particular turns his roller boogie performance into one for the ages. Honestly from everything I knew about the film was that there was little or no time for prep and rehearsal. How Mr. Bradford and Mr. Swayze came into such Olympic Gold Medal worthy and rock out roller boogie jam scenes is beyond me, yet they pull it off without the slightest bit of camp or hesitation. In addition their performances are lensed and edited perfectly together with their dance moves and the music. When it comes to roller boggie in cinema there is nothing as exciting as
Skatetown, U.S.A.!

From Left to Right:
Karen Black, Robert Ryan, Joe Don Baker and Robert Duvall in John Flynn’s (Rolling Thunder), The Outfit.
In Point Blank we had Lee Marvin play the character of Parker based in Donald E. Westlake’s Parker series under the pseudonym Richard Stark (more info). In John Flynn’s, The Outfit Robert Duvall takes over the character of Parker in one of cinemas underrated crime classics.

From the 2000 re-issue in Japan comes the lavish and particularly captivating poster artwork for Nagisa Oshima’s, In the Realm of the Senses (Ai no corrida). Certainly is a nice touch the artwork weaves itself in and around the character, including the knife blade.
