Vintage Movie Wallpaper of the Day
Friday, November 14, 2008
And so begins several days of vintage images from this film. Up first is this absolutely rare and classic publicity image from Welcome Home, Soldier Boys (1972). Give yourself 2 billion cinephile points if you can name all actors and the name of the lone actress in this still.
Welcome Home, Soldier Boys was directed by Richard Compton, who might be better known for having directed Macon County Line and Return to Macon County. The screenplay was from none other than Guerdon Trueblood who is perhaps best known for directing The Candy Snatchers. It has a fantastic cast and of the films that dealt with Vietnam and that came from the 70’s remains to this day one of the more underrated and under seen true gems. I wouldn’t at all call it necessarily like or similar to Rolling Thunder, but if you liked that film, then there is a real good chance you will also love Welcome Home, Soldier Boys!

One of the all-time great publicity stills in the history of action cinema is this very one. I’m proud at last to get this image back and restored for fans of the film and Jim ‘Black Belt Jones’ Kelly. Now let’s go to McDonald’s!!!!!
Caption:
A SMASHING GOOD TIME is had by all as depicted in these scenes from Warner Bros.’ “Black Belt Jones.” The fellow who started it all is rugged Jim Kelly (center), who co-stars in the film with Gloria Hendry and Scatman Crothers. The Technicolor-Panavision action drama was produced by Fred Weintraub and Paul M. Heller from a screenplay by Oscar Williams.
