I don’t know about you, but the intersection of what is it, Viale del Ciclismo and Viale della Tecnica, as shown in this film completely captures my cinema loving heart in all its depth. It inspires thought and reflection and makes me want to make a pilgrimage to it at least once in my life. Completely surreal that is appears Google Streetview has this very intersection shown 360 in present day (view here). Anyone that has any information to add to where this street intersection might presently exist, I would love to hear from you… perhaps this one I’ve linked to is it, maybe not. I plan to re-watch the film soon to see if anything matches up.

This is one of the better Alain Delon Italian crime films and a must see. Japanese DVD still seems to be the best version of it out there to get. Tony Arzenta aka Big Guns tells the tale of a hit man (played by Delon) deciding to hang up his hat from the mob only to realize once your in there might not be any way out. Filmmaker Duccio Tessari along with Gianni Ferrio (score), Silvano Ippoliti (cinematography), Delon, Richard Conte and Carla Gravina all work together to create a unflinching, brutal and hard hitting cream of the crop thriller, Italian crime style.

One of the all-time great Weird Wednesdays screenings I’ve been to was for this film. Absolutely loved it. I often wonder just how much of a cult following this film has as many cinephiles I meet also note it as one of their favorites. Also known in the UK as The Love Cage.

Jane Fonda, returning to her villa with empty baskets after taking food to a mission for down-and-outs, is followed by the new chauffeur, Alain Delon.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s “THE LOVE CAGE” stars Jane Fonda, Alain Delon and Lola Albright in the suspenseful drama of a young professional card shark who is pursued by American gangsters and escapes to the French Riviera. When he becomes the chauffeur of a rich widow and her beautiful young cousin, he finds himself involved in a web of mystery and intrigue. The Cipra Production was produced by Jacques Bar and directed by Rene Clement.

Alain Delon is Jef Costello, in the wintry criminal cocktail, Le Samourai, a film that upholds up quite well with the test of time.
