CLIVE BARKER’S SEDUTH 3D Comic Book

Clive Barker is constantly creating. He keeps with him a small book which he can use at any point creativity strikes him to make a drawing or illustration. Even on interviews he keeps the pages of his book open and a pen handy. He speaks with the heart of an artist, full of wit and an unparalleled genuineness that is rare as I sit across from him on an early morning at the 42 Sitges Film Festival. His rich worlds and characters over the years have give me nightmares I’ve yet to shake and at the same time thoughtful introspection into the human soul and what scares us deep down inside and what ultimately gives us hope. Mr. Barker was in town for the festival this year to pick up an illustrious Time Machine award that very select few ever get. Over the course of my interview with him I was really impressed as he spoke not just as a writer, filmmaker or producer but that of someone above and beyond all that who deeply loved horror cinema and where it needed to go. Champion and hero of horror cinema? You better believe it! If Mr. Barker has anything to do with it, then cinema, Anime and comic books will get get a renewed jolt of horror in the coming years. Armed now with a surging company and an army of talented directors to help him realize his visions and put his words and images to either the silver screen or the page of a comic, suddenly anything feels possible again with where horror can go… and lets hope its away from this endless glut of remakes that seem to only be about jump scares and soundtracks or as Mr. Barker puts it, product made for accountants only to enjoy.

Over the course of this two part interview Mr. Barker talks about his upcoming projects, his recent duo of films in Dread and Book of Blood, Anime, state of horror cinema and more.
