I remember very well all the hype and excitement leading up to Paul Verhoeven’s Total Recall being released back in 1990. The trailers for the movie just looked amazing, especially with an all star cast and he had just done RoboCop previously. The director of RoboCop coming out with a rocking sci-fi film… hell yes sign me up please! The results were a wildly mixed film that can be loved in places, but so hard to love as a complete package. Nonetheless regardless how you shake this film it never comes up short in the “fun” department.
Not sure how I feel about Verhoeven’s next which is the sequel for The Thomas Crown Affair (though he certainly was on fire with Black Book – so there is hope yet!), but his film immediately after it, Azazel, (which who knows if it will in fact be the one to follow it) looks quite exciting and certainly up his sleeve to pull off.
