Charlie Kaufman finally adapts his own material in bringing to life the time spanning and shifting surreal drama/comedy - Synecdoche, New York. With the likes of an acting ensemble that includes the following, you certainly know this is going to be a must see film: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Emily Watson, Samantha Morton, Michelle Williams, Catherine Keener, Dianne Wiest, Tom Noonan and Robin Weigert.

This film will screen at the upcoming Sitges - International Film Festival of Catalonia in October.

Philip Seymour Hoffman + Charlie Kaufman seems like a perfect pairing of talent and bouncing creative energy. That this is the debut film of Mr. Kaufman certainly adds to the intrigue of Synecdoche, New York. Typically Mr. Kaufman leaves his work up to the director and their vision and in this case he is the director so we can be sure his creative touches will be even more vivid and even more so in full force with it.

Long before other directors gave him a chance to shine, Paul Thomas Anderson often cast Philip Seymour Hoffman in juicy roles in his films. These days Mr. Hoffman seems to be playing every type of character imaginable. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up playing Cate Blanchett next. I would say Mr. Hoffman’s performance in Boogie Nights is my favorite of his Paul Thomas Anderson film work.
