It’s James Bond Day in the month long appreciation of Japanese Poster Artwork! So sit back and relax and enjoy Japanese posters from The Man with the Golden Gun, The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill.

Up first we have this great poster artwork from one of my favorite James Bond films, The Man with the Golden Gun. The illustration of Roger Moore is pretty much the same one you will see featured in other James Bond posters (like in the previous one I posted from For Your Eyes Only). I really like this artwork here as it does take some time in glancing over it to see Britt Ekland, Christopher Lee, Herve Villechaize and various scenes from it depicted. Of special note is the use of “007″ imprinted on the bullet which although highlighted might be missed upon initial viewing.

About Japanese Poster Artwork Celebration Month:
To kick off 2009, I can think of no better way of doing so than celebrating Japanese poster artwork. The emphasis will be more of western films through the lens of Japanese poster artwork and of course some of my own personal all-time favorites. At a future date I’ll probably have a month devoted to solely Japanese films and their poster artwork. So be sure to tune in each day during the month of January as I have an incredible amount of incredible Japanese posters that will be on display. Hopefully at the end of this I can convert many of you into life long fans of Japanese posters!

One of my all-time favorite movies and one of my all-time favorite Bond films! One of those rare films I’ve completely lost track on how many times I’ve seen it. Can’t wait to hopefully see it soon on Blu-Ray! Carole Bouquet might be the best and most stunning Bond girl ever as Melina Havelock. Though note in the Japanese poster artwork here, her eyes are unfortunately a bit uneven and disproportionate… oh well, still a very engaging, exciting and well done poster despite retreading the same exact James Bond head shot illustration used in other posters (I’ve seen it used in at least two others). Which isn’t really a knock as maybe the same artist felt they had nailed it perfectly and felt no need to try and change it any.
