Cinema is Dope

The Beta version of the Movie Wallpaper Archive has launched today (access it in the very top navigation). This feature and functionality is aimed at helping people browse and find what they are looking for more easily. I plan to continue to build out and refine this area as the site progresses. This also brings this site full turn and brings me back to an older site I did, but with a lot more features and functionality.

Currently the Movie Wallpaper Archive is populated with all movie wallpaper from the 1920’s up to the 1960’s. I’m working on wrapping up the 1970’s-2000’s in the coming days ahead. In addition there will be some additional pages to filter by. These additional pages will reflect several changes I’ve been making in tagging images.

Another new feature which has slowly been creeping into the site and I’ve been going back and making retroactive is the additional tagging of images by: action, country, genre, item and location.

It has been a great ride here at Cinema is Dope. For the month of May 2008, I saw the most traffic ever hit the site, with over 100,000 page views for the month of May. So many thanks to everyone out there who links to my site or supports it.

I’ll be launching a new update to the site for the month of June. This will greatly break out the site with new features and more.

If there is a particular genre, decade or film talent you want to see me post here, please let me know. I have 200 images in the cue for the month of June so far.

I somehow missed this when it was posted this year, but one of my favorite movie sites Cine21.com has a nice little write up on Cinema is Dope. Not 100% on what all it says, yet I still am able to get a general sense of it via translating it in Google.

Cinema is Dope will start broadcasting from Austin, Texas this Saturday. I’ve been stuck out in Dallas for a bit but have returned to the wonderful and rocking city known as Austin. Or as Nick or Jette would say, “The A to the N.”

Does feel strange finally being back. Seems like so many new faces in the city. Everyone seems to be sporting a “Keep Austin Weird T-shirt.” In surrounding cities the t-shirts are “Keep (enter city name here) Normal!”

Looking forward to broadcasting from Austin, catching up with old friends and being back in the vibrant film community that is the Drafthouse cinema.
