When it comes to classic images from cinema, it’s hard to beat this one with a down and out George Bailey (James Stewart) in Frank Capra’s, It’s a Wonderful Life. I love films with second chance themes. They give you some pause for reflection and meditation in wondering the “what if” of various life choices we have made or didn’t make. Always amazing to think how innocuous at the time small events can trigger a chain reaction that completely changes our life. Perhaps with life we are always put right exactly where we are meant to be and don’t often realize until afterwards where fate swept in and guided us. Perhaps at the end of the day it’s best we don’t have that second chance to change things, outside of our dreams where we can awake with added motivation to live life to the fullest.
Live your life to the fullest with no stone left unturned seems to be a mantra many proclaim and few follow. It is with this aspect that also makes It’s a Wonderful Life even more timeless as with cinema it gives us that rare glance into what a full life could be and how to overcome dark days of the past. If ever there were a film that has the magic to change ones life with one viewing… it is this one!
