Lee Marvin Month – February 2009

Lee Marvin not only gave out acting advice to fellow stars, as shown here he also gave it out to prisoners. Interesting if you check out the chalkboard in this picture and some of the items diagrammed out: “Practice Makes Perfect.” As promised this month long celebration of Lee Marvin will feature several rare and candid images of him both on and off the screen.

Details of this still:
Actor Lee Marvin, center, listens and answers questions by inmates at the San Quentin Prison today as the inmates began rehearsal of the play “People Need People,” an adaptation of the television play of the same name in which Marvin starred. It is the first play that the prisoners have done in the form of an adaptation of a television play. In the background are some of the persons connected with the original play that accompanied Marvin to San Quentin to give the inmates some tips from the pros.
