Tomorrow (Sunday) is your last chance to catch this film at TIFF this year. It just won Venice (read more) by surprise. I think everyone had written it off due to the mixed word of mouth. I have to wonder if the US release will feature a “Jackass” type of warning before the movie warning audiences to “Please do not try these gymnastic sexual positions depicted in this film. They are extremely complicated and require skills that only advanced ninjas of sex possess. And please for the love of God do not try the handstand position.” The film to me seems from the initial reports that it could be a Ang Lee love letter to Wong Kar-wai films - Ang Lee’s sensibilities inducing the tumbling romantic avenues of Wong Kar-wai’s cinema with a lush and sincere cover song.
